Young people are the key to increasing awareness and participation in regard to organ and tissue donation. Whether it is making the donation decision when they get their license or learners permit, sharing their wishes with their family, or making decisions for loved ones later in life.
For younger children not ready to discuss donation or make a decision, Tennessee Donor Services can provide valuable education and educational tools that are age appropriate.
As teachers and educators, you play an important role in the success of donation awareness among young people. As a direct result of your initiative, more families will be enlightened to the option of organ and tissue donation.
Tennessee Donor Services is pleased to offer and highly recommends the following online programs for public and private schools, each designed with the student in mind.
Decision: Donation
Created as a model instructional packet for high school students by the Department of Health and Human Services. Includes student tutorials and activities related to discussing organ donation and transplantation.
The Gift of a Lifetime
This program allows students to put a face with donation, interact with the body to learn about brain death and how organ and tissue donation works, and includes numerous additional resources for teachers to use in the classroom. |
